Hanson Bridgett Managing Partner Kristina Lawson Becomes President of the Medical Board of California
June 11, 2024 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett LLP is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Kristina Lawson has been elected President of the Medical Board of California. She succeeds Dr. Randy W. Hawkins, M.D. Lawson previously served as Board President from November 2020 to August 2023.
"It’s an honor to once again serve as President of the Medical Board of California," said Lawson. “The Board will continue to focus on protecting all Californians by ensuring access to accurate information about medical doctors in the state and I look forward to working with the Board on new projects focused on physician wellness.”
Lawson was first appointed to the Board in 2015 by Governor Edmund G. Brown and was most recently reappointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2022. As Hanson Bridgett's chief executive, Lawson is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s strategy and management and is the first female Managing Partner in Hanson Bridgett’s 60+ year history. Known in the legal industry and beyond as a progressive and collaborative leader, Lawson was recently named by The San Francisco Business Times as one of the Bay Area’s Most Admired CEOs. Over the course of her career, Lawson has been deeply committed to public service. She is a former Mayor of the City of Walnut Creek and is currently Chair of the Board and Executive Committee of the Bay Area Council, an organization of more than 330 of the largest employers in the region committed to working with public and community leaders to keep the Bay Area the most innovative, globally competitive, inclusive, and sustainable region in the world.

The Medical Board of California is a state government agency which licenses and disciplines medical doctors. The Board provides two principal types of services to consumers: public-record information about California-licensed physicians, and investigation of complaints against physicians.
